The Announcement
We’re pleased to share ARTiSTORY’s partnership with Magnum Photos, a photographers’ cooperative founded in 1947. Across generations, Magnum photographers have documented daily life and culture while developing highly individual ways of seeing. The Harry Ransom Center’s account of Magnum’s history traces that continuing relationship between photographers, their subjects and their audiences.
For ARTiSTORY, this partnership creates opportunities to connect those photographic stories with contemporary products and cultural experiences. Our featured selection introduces six photographers whose work spans everyday humour, conceptual storytelling and observations of the natural world.
Six featured photographers
Elliott Erwitt
Elliott Erwitt found humour and tenderness in everyday encounters. His photographs of dogs, city streets and fleeting gestures reveal how much character can sit within an ordinary moment. In the featured New York photograph, the scale of a small dog beside a woman’s shoes turns a familiar pavement scene into a quietly playful encounter.

Cristina de Middel
Cristina de Middel blends documentary and conceptual photography to explore how images shape our understanding of reality. Her series Antipodes introduces mirrors into New Zealand landscapes, creating views that feel familiar and unexpected at once. The work asks viewers to spend more time with an image and consider how it has been constructed.

Trent Parke
Trent Parke uses light and shadow to give Australian life a dreamlike intensity. His photographs move between beaches, city streets and the outback, exploring identity, place and family life. The featured selection includes dogs playing in the surf at Tamarama Beach and images from The Crimson Line, showing different expressions of his attention to light.
Richard Kalvar
Richard Kalvar discovers ambiguity and gentle absurdity in familiar places. Precise timing and surprising framing create connections that are easy to overlook in daily life. In the featured Paris photograph, a giant soap bubble floats against a cloud-filled sky, turning an everyday public space into a scene with an unexpected visual rhythm.
Stuart Franklin
Stuart Franklin brings a documentary eye to the relationship between nature and society. His featured photographs span forests, deserts, glaciers and wildlife. An upward view of kapur trees in Malaysia’s Kepong Forest Reserve reveals crown shyness through the spaces between their canopies, giving a natural phenomenon a striking graphic presence.

Nanna Heitmann
Nanna Heitmann explores how people live with, and are shaped by, their surroundings. Her photographs offer an intimate sense of remote communities and northern landscapes. The featured selection includes a dog beneath the northern lights in Teriberka and the frozen Yenisei River from Hiding from Baba Yaga, a project attentive to life along the river’s banks.
Creative opportunities for brands and venues
For a brand or venue, the starting point is the relationship between a photograph and its audience. A playful street image could guide a gift collection. A sequence of landscapes might inform a publication or exhibition. The choice of format should preserve the photograph’s character and give its story room to be understood.
Product opportunities could include apparel, bags, stationery and homeware, with image placement, scale and material selected around the work. For cultural venues, a curated photographic display could connect visitors with an artist’s perspective, supported by captions, interpretation and a related retail offer.
Developing photographic stories with ARTiSTORY
There are established examples of photography moving into everyday objects. Magnum’s Cristina de Middel LOQI recycled bag, featuring a photograph from Ouidah, Benin, shows how a specific image can become part of a functional accessory. It offers a useful reference for photographic product applications.
Our development process begins with the partner’s customer, category, channel and commercial brief. That provides the basis for choosing a photographic direction, developing the product or experience concept and building clear stories around the selected work.
Image use also needs a defined scope. ARTiSTORY’s rights management supports the coordination of permissions, territories, product categories, credits and approvals. This helps keep creative development aligned with the agreed use of each photograph, including its presentation in products, packaging and marketing.
The six featured photographers offer distinct starting points for individual project briefs. A brand seeking an everyday sense of humour will approach the images differently from a venue planning a landscape-led exhibition. ARTiSTORY helps shape that choice into a project with a clear audience and purpose.
With thanks to the Magnum Photos team and our ARTiSTORY colleagues for bringing this partnership together. We look forward to exploring these photographic stories with our brand, retail and venue partners.
